Welcome to the world of Vintage Illustrations.
In this newsletter, I bring nostalgic stories, highlight interesting finds, and dive into the world of vintage art & the artists behind them.
Today, I’ve decided to keep things simple and talk about my love for old stuff.
Collecting vintage images has been a hobby of mine for a while. There's just something so nostalgic about the good ol' days — probably because there's more to it than just being old.
Vintage, to me, is simply the combination of art and history, and both are filled with stories and memories of people that came before us. Owning something vintage keeps the history and artistry alive.
But what exactly draws us to this old stuff?
I thought about this for a while, and I landed on an answer.
…It's the hunt. Who doesn't love delving through shops of odds and olds looking for a gem? Not knowing what to look for makes everything you do find extra special.
There's a distinct charm attached to vintage. And the great thing about it is that it’s not a commonplace, expensive brand. You can find great classic artwork for super cheap.
Speaking of which:
Vintage illustrations are now available for purchase!
Good news: You can now buy prints of many images on the site. Just click on an image and look for the “Buy Print” button. See an example here:
This is a museum-quality poster, printed on thick and durable matte paper.
It yields brilliant colors to brighten up any room.
These images are not just beautiful pictures on your wall, but also a source of creative inspiration, because it represents pure ideas and histories, born of little else but simple supplies and the creativity of the artist's mind.
The fusion of art and science
Art is incorporated into science classrooms by very basic means as well as a part of bigger projects. Observations in labs are drawn and written. Both artists and scientists work in a systematic but creative way.
"The greatest scientist are artists as well"
-Einstein
A very popular feminine symbol in the Victorian era was the fabled moon & star motif. The moon represents how a mother is constantly watching over her children yesterday, today, and for as long as there's a moon in the night sky. And with its radiating warmth, the sun plays the fathers' role.
Fantasty images within nature
You go into a forest, venture into a desert, wallow on a nearby river, hike on a trail, and have no doubt found peace and solace with the magical energies in there.
We have all parted a secret or two with the forest. It's not just the trees and plants that listen to you; there are other energies in the woods who want to connect out and offer their guidance. They can be a twinkle in the wind or deep whispers on a hot summer night.
Fairies are trendy for their beauty and otherworldly allure. Hanging a fairy vintage illustration on your walls is a great way to express creativity and femininity.
